Chairman of the Council. Jānis Priede is a doctor of economics, a professor of economics at the University of Latvia, and the dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Latvia. Combines academic knowledge with a broad international experience. Interned at many foreign universities - Columbia University in New York (USA), Fulda University of Applied Sciences (Germany), University of Iceland (Iceland), Warsaw School of Economics (Poland), University of Aveiro (Portugal) and also universities of the nearest neighbours - University of Tartu (Estonia ) and Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania), as well as others. Approved as a member of the Fiscal Discipline Council by the decision of the Saeima on October 19, 2023. At the Council meeting held on 19 December 2025, he was elected Chairman of the Fiscal Discipline Council, assuming the duties of the position as of 1 January 2026.

Dr.habil.oec. Inna Steinbuka

Deputy chair of the Council. Inna Šteinbuka is Professor, Director of the Master's degree programme "European Studies" at the University of Latvia. Since October 2018 she is a special advisor to Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis. From 2011 to 2018 she has been the Head of the European Commission Representation in Latvia. She has been working at the European Commission since 2005 and was previously the Director of the Department of Economic and Regional Statistics, and the Department of Social and Information Society Statistics at Eurostat.

Prior to joining the European Commission, she has been Chair of the Public Utilities Commission of Latvia and Senior Advisor to the Executive Director of Nordic - Baltic constituency at the International Monetary Fund in Washington D.C. She has previously held various positions at the Ministry of Finance. She takes part in the activities of the "Economists Association 2010". Inna Šteinbuka is a full member of the Latvian Academy of Sciences. In 2008 Inna Šteinbuka was awarded with the Order of the Three Stars for her achievements in finance and economics.

On 11 October 2018, the Saeima appointed Inna Šteinbuka as a member of the Fiscal Discipline Council. As of 1 January 2020, she assumed the position of Chairwoman of the Fiscal Discipline Council.

On 26 September 2024, the Saeima approved her for a second term of office, commencing on 10 October 2024.

Inna Šteinbuka served as Chairwoman of the Fiscal Discipline Council until 31 December 2025. At the meeting held on 19 December 2025, she was elected Deputy Chair of the Fiscal Discipline Council and assumed this role as of 1 January 2026.

MSc.oec. Igors Kasjanovs

Igors Kasjanovs is a Senior Economist at the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) in Helsinki, where he specialises in macroeconomics, productivity and sustainability-related issues. In his role, he assesses the economic impact of projects financed by the Bank, including their contribution to economic development, entrepreneurship and the energy transition in the Nordic and Baltic countries.

Prior to joining NIB, he worked in the field of economic analysis, focusing on economic development, convergence and fiscal policy. He has extensive experience in macroeconomic analysis and public finance, as well as a strong understanding of economic developments in the region.

MSc.oec. Inta Vasaraudze

Inta Vasaraudze is an economist with extensive experience in public administration in the fields of macroeconomic analysis, economic forecasting and fiscal policy. During her professional career in public administration, including positions at the Central Statistical Bureau and the Ministry of Finance, she has held senior positions in the area of economic analysis.

Inta Vasaraudze has represented Latvia in several international institutions, including the Administrative Council of the Council of Europe Development Bank, the European Union’s Economic and Financial Committee and Economic Policy Committee, as well as the Economic Policy Committee of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

On 5 March 2026, the Saeima appointed Inta Vasaraudze as a Member of the Fiscal Discipline Council for a six-year term. She assumed office on 16 March 2026.

MSc.IB. MSc.Theol. Ivars Golsts

Ivars Golsts has served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Latvenergo, Director of the Latvian Guarantee Agency, Chairman of the Board at the Latvian State Radio and Television Centre, and Advisor to the Board of Directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. From June 1, 2019, to August 31, 2020, he served as Secretary of the Fiscal Discipline Council.

Ivars holds a Master's Degree in International Business from the University of Colorado at Denver and a degree in engineering from Riga Technical University.

On September 9, 2021, he was approved as a member of the Fiscal Discipline Council.

MSc.oec. Andrejs Jakobsons

Andrejs Jakobsons is a lecturer and member of Council at RTU Riga Business School. Andrejs is specialized in macroeconomics, management economics, labor economic and international economics. Before that he led World Bank projects in the Baltic States. Andrejs has been financial and tax expert at the Latvian Employers' Confederation. Has a Master's degree in Economics from Indiana University in the USA.
