Fiscal Discipline Council: increasing the budget deficit will not provide the expected economic breakthrough.
In Latvia, in general, the largest price growth has been overcome and at present, there is a clear decline trend in inflation. Although, prices continue to rise slower the cost of living remains a significant challenge for a large part of society. In this situation, it should not be allowed to increase the budget deficit in the name of short-term gains, but we should think about the implementation of long-term reforms to strengthen the country's competitiveness.
