On Thursday, 19 February, the Saeima approved economist MSc.oec. Igors Kasjanovs as a member of the Fiscal Discipline Council.
In accordance with Article 22 of the Fiscal Discipline Law, the Council consists of six members. Three members are nominated upon a joint proposal by the Governor of the Bank of Latvia and the Minister of Finance, while three are nominated upon a proposal by at least ten Members of the Saeima.
He was nominated for the position by the Governor of the Bank of Latvia, Mārtiņš Kazāks, and the Minister of Finance, Arvils Ašeradens.
